Walk With
Christ Devotional
The
book of Acts
I chose the Book of Acts because Gods word is so important that I felt it is
important to link the last time Christ was seen here on earth and His Church.
Acts is the bridge between the last time Christ appeared to the apostles after
His death and the beginning of His Church.
Acts was written by Luke, he was the first historian of the early years of the
Church, and the companion of Saul, who was later called Paul after his
conversion,. Paul was never one of the disciples his belief in Jesus Christ was
based on faith the same as ours.
Acts covers the beginning of the Church, remember the Church is all believers in
salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord,.
Remember , John 3:16, that after Christ left the earth for the last time we all believe
through faith in Jesus Christ. We can pray that He will return in our lifetime
and put an end to all the suffering we see around us. But our time is not Gods
time and all things must come to pass, and His divine plan be fulfilled.
May you always walk with Christ, may God bless you, and the Holy Spirit fill
your heart and soul with courage and Gods Love.

Acts i:1-11 in Acts 1"1 Luke states that in
his former book , he wrote about, "all that Jesus began to do and teach,
1:2 until he was taken up," Luke is talking about the last time the eleven
apostles saw Jesus in His earthly body. And at that time Jesus gave orders by
the Holy Spirit to the apostles.
In Acts 1:3 Luke tells us that Christ presented Himself to the apostles over a
period of of 40 days after His death, Christ ate with them and spoke to them of
the things to come concerning the kingdom of God.
In Acts 1:4 Christ gathered them together and told them "not to leave
Jerusalem but to wait for what the Father had promised. Witch you heard of from
Me; 1:5 for John baptized with water but you shall be baptized with the Holy
Spirit not many days from now".
In 1:6 when they had all come together with Jesus they were still asking Him if
this was the time He was going to free Israel and set up His kingdom. 1:7 Jesus
tells them its not for them to know Gods time table.
In 1:8 Jesus tell them that they would receive the power when the Holy Spirit
comes upon them and they would be His witnesses to the whole earth.
1:9 After Jesus told them this He was taken up to Heaven in a cloud.1:10-11
while they were standing and wondering, 2 men were suddenly standing beside
them, they were dressed all in white, ( I believe that the 2 men were angels)
1:11 the 2 men asked them why they were staring into the sky? Then they told
them that Jesus had been taken up into Heaven and would return the same way He
went, in a cloud.
At this point Jesus had fulfilled all the prophecy for our deliverance from
sin.

In Acts 1:12 the disciples left the Mt. of Olives
and went back to Jerusalem in 1:13 they all went to the rooms they were all
staying at, the 11 apostles and Judas the son of James. In 1:14 they were all in
prayer along with the woman, Mary and His brothers.
In Acts 1:15 Peter stood and spoke to the people that were there, ( there were
about 120 of the brethren there) 1:16 and said, "BRETHREN THE SCRIPTURE HAD
TO BE FULFILLED, WHICH THE HOLY SPIRIT FORETOLD BY THE MOUTH OF DAVID CONCERNING
JUDAS",
Judas was the one that led the people that arrested Him to Jesus. 1:18-19 Judas
took the money they gave him, for betraying Jesus, and bought a field, he died
there falling down and his his body burst open in the middle, the field was
called the Field of Blood.
Acts 1:20 It is written in Psalms, 69:25 and 109:8, 'LET HIS HOMESTEAD BE MADE DESOLATE, AND
LET NO MAN DWELL IN IT' and HIS OFFICE LET ANOTHER MAN TAKE'. In Acts 1:21 Peter
said that it was necessary to chose another man to fill Judas place, so there
could become 12 again, 1:22 they wanted one of the men that had been with Christ
from the very beginning, from the time Christ was baptized by John until Christ's
resurrection.In1:23 they chose 2 men, Barsabbue ( who was also called Justus ),
and Matthias, 1:24 and they prayed and asked the Lord to show them which man He
has chosen 1:25 to be one of the apostles. 1:26 then they drew lots to discover
Gods will. After Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit, they relied on the
Holy Spirit for guidance from then on.
