In Ephesians 5:1 - 17 Paul tells us to be imitators of God and to walk in love, just as Christ loved us so much He gave Himself up for us.
We should not let any impurity come among us, no filth, silly talk or coarse jesting, they
aren't fitting, but giving thanks and praise to God for what He has given us.
I believe that God likes a good joke, but not putting someone down or filth or
immoral joking, after all He gave us monkeys and other things in this world for amusement
and joy. He gave us a smile and laughter to lighten our hearts. A smile and greeting
can make a day better for someone. God tells us to sing His praises with joy. Daniel danced with joy to God.
In Ephesians 5: 6 Paul tells us not to let anyone deceive us. I believe that if we study our Bible and walk
closely with the Holy Spirit we will be able to discern the good from the bad, but we need to know Gods word in order to do that. Paul goes on to say that we are the light in the Lord and as children of light we need to walk that way. 5:9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and trying to learn what is pleasing to God.
We are not to participate in deeds of darkness but expose them to the light because it is disgraceful even to speak of these things done in secret, junk in junk out, is the old
saying. all things become visible when exposed to the light.
In 5: 14 it says " For this reason it says. Awake sleeper
And arise from the dead,. And Christ will shine on you."
Remember we are dead to God the Father until we accept Christ as our savior. He is the light of our lives.
We need to be wise in our walk with Christ, making the most of our time with Him, because these are very evil times . I
believe that time is short.
We need to pray the Holy Spirit will help us to understand God's will for us in His
divine plan.

In Ephesians 5:18- 21 Paul tells us about" the inner life of the Spirit -filled believer".
These 4 paragraphs are so important, I know I keep saying that but the whole book of
Ephesians deals with our walk with Christ and our relationship with the Holy Father,.
Paul tells us in 5: 18-19 not to become drunk on wine , but to be filled with the Holy Spirit, and speaking to one another with the psalms, hymns, and singing with our hearts to the Lord.
As we go about our daily business there is so much time we can do that, while we're driving, cleaning house, folding cloths, eating or just sitting taking a break.
I have found that when I'm tired and sitting down and resting if I do this for even 5 or 10 min. when I get up to go again I have renewed energy and joy in the day.
In 5: 20 Paul tells us to " give thanks for all things in the name of Jesus Christ to God, even the Father". Each time we come to God it is always through Christ for He is the Savior.
In 5: 21 we are to "be subject to one another in the fear of Christ". I don't really
understand this paragraph as the only time I really feared Christ in the Father was
before I accepted Him as my Savior. I was afraid I wasn't good enough, so many times I still
feel this way, when I think of all He put Himself through for us .
I fear for the ones in my family that have not accepted Him. And for all the people
we've lost through hurricanes, flood, earthquakes, and famine this year, the ones that have not accepted or
known Christ.

In Ephesians 5:22 - 33 Paul likens marriage to the same obedience
that we as the body of Christ give to Him.
In 5:22 Paul tells us to be subject to our husbands as we would to the Lord ,that
doesn't mean being a doormat, it means loving and respecting him as we do Christ.
In 5:23-25 husbands should love their wives as Christ loves the church. He should love and respect her as she dose him. As Christ loves us so much He
sacrificed His life for us.
In 5:26 - 27 Paul tells us that as the body of Christ, He has made us Holy and blameless by our
baptism in water and our confession to Him of our sin.
In 5:28-30 Paul tells us that husbands should love their wives as he loves himself, because no one ever hates
himself. That he should nourish and cherish his wife just as Christ dose the church.
In these references to the church Paul is always talking about the church of Ephesus that is in this instance the body of Christ.
In 5: 31-33 Paul quotes Christ's words in Matt. 19:5 For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh."
In 5:32 he speaks of this as a great mystery, but he is speaking of Christ and the body of Christ.
In 5:33 Paul says that even though he is using the example of marriage to explain the
similarity between the body of Christ and Christ Himself. These references to the marriage of the body of Christ to Christ, also pertain to the actual marriage between a man and his wife and should be
observed the same.
