Walk With Christ Devotional - Acts 9

Acts 9: 32-43, As Peter was traveling around the country, he went to Lydia to visit the saints.

There he found a man named Aeneas who had been paralyzed for 8 yr. Peter said to him " Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and take care of your mat." Aeneas got up immediately . All those who lived in Lydia and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.

In Joppa there was a disciple named Darcas, who was always helping the poor and doing good works. She became sick and died. Lydia was near Joppa, so when the disciples herd that Peter was in Lydia. They went to him and asked him to come with them, and Peter went.

When he got there he was taken up stairs to where Darcas was. All the widows stood around him and showed him all the things Darcus had made for them.

Peter sent them out of the room and knelt and prayed. Then he turned to the woman and said "Tabitha, arise."

She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. he took her by the hands and helped her to her feet. And presented her to the believers and widows, alive.

This became known all over Joppa, and many people were saved. Peter stayed in Joppa for sometime with a tanner named Simon.

At this time all the converts had been Jews. No Gentiles had been offered salvation, as it was against Jewish law for a Jew to enter a Gentile home, or have anything to do with a Gentile. In fact children of mixed marriages were not recognized as being Jewish.
