Walk With Christ Devotional - Acts Chapter 6

Acts 6:1-15, Even in the early days of the church complaints of discrimination arose from the Grecian Jews that their widows were being overlooked when it came to distributing the daily food. So the apostles gathered the disciples and they decided to choose 7 men from the disciples to administer the food. These men were Stephan, Philip, Procorus, Nicanor,Timon, Parmenas, and Micolas. All of these men were Grecian Jews or Hellenists. So a new office was began in the emerging church . So the complaints of the Grecian Jews was put to rest.
After the apostles laid hands on the 7 men and prayed for them the apostles went about their work of teaching and healing . The disciples increased rapidly, even including a large number of priests,.
I have always believed that if you don't like the cooking, than you should do the cooking. I believe the apostles and God felt the same way.
Stephen was full of Gods Grace and he did wonders and miracles in the name of Jesus Christ. However opposition arose from the Synagogue of the Freedmen, Jews of Cyrene and Alexandria and other places. They argued and debated with Stephen but they couldn't stand up to his wisdom or the Holy Spirit, that guided his words.
So they gathered together men that would bare false witness against Stephen and charged him with blasphemy. And stirred up the people, elders, and teachers of the law.
All who were at the Sanhedrin looked at Stephen and saw his face was like the face of an angel.
Even today jealousy can cause more dissention among Christians than anything else. It can lead us to say things and make statements that border on lies I've seen it in church and in private. It seems a small thing at the time but can become vicious over a period of time.
When you went to a party, as a child, did you play telephone? You line up a number of chairs and the first person whispers a message to the second person and he repeats it to the third on down the line until it comes to the last person. That person repeats it out aloud, and the person that started the message tells what they said. You will find they are nothing alike.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND THE HOLY SPIRIT FILL YOU WITH JOY
