Thanksgiving

November is here.  Things are finally cooling off.  God is producing another fantastic artwork in nature once again, in the fall

Turkeys are getting nervous.  Kids are counting the days until Christmas.  Thank God for lay a way, for most of us.
What about the holiday at the end of the month?  What are we supposed to thankful for?  Is it just another paid holiday?  Who do we give thanks to?

There hasn't always been a Thanksgiving holiday.  I don't know all the specifics, but I think it was established not too long after our ancestors' pilgrimage to this great country.  Personally, I have been dreading this month for a long time.  My family is in a major financial crisis.  I don't know how things are going to work out.  Some unfortunate things have already occurred.  No matter what, though, I keep waking up to another day.

God, in His loving ways, reminds me that He is in control and He is able to take care of any thing that comes my way.  His Word says, (NKV) Matthew  6:31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32. For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.  And,  (NKV) Psalm 55:22 Cast your burden on the LORD, And He shall sustain you;  He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

Actually, I have everything to be thankful for.  Every breath I breathe, comes from God.  Apart from His will, I'd have no heart beat.  Apart from Jesus, there'd be no salvation.  He gave me a beautiful daughter, who I love so very much.  My husband has been very faithful and has stuck with me no matter what.  I have a mother n law and father n law who are kind and loving.  I have trouble counting my nieces and nephews.  We have a home, transportation, clothes and food.  I get to hear music of my choice.  I enjoy having pets.  I have more friends than I can keep up with, especially through the internet.  I'm involved in an online ministry which has been a big help to keep me focused.  There's so much more, but I think I've made my point.

Let there be no mistake...  Thanks belongs to God alone... for without Him, we wouldn't be and this world wouldn't be either.  So, let's try to remember to give Him thanks every day this month , not just on Thanksgiving... and then everyday thereafter!!!
