Hope


What do these dates and events have in common?

Every one hold to something very dear. with out it you could not continue onward. And what is so incredible is that what we all hold onto has been handed down to us year by year, month by month , day by day , and every second we live and breath.

What I am about to share with you is going to be a gift. And every one I know likes to receive gifts, regardless of our age and or gender.

Here is your gift that is vital to your life. It is found in Hebrews chapter eleven verse one.

Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Heb 11:2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.

The gift you are to receive is hope.

But what is hope?

According to the Greek it is defined as

ba^ṭach - baw-takh' to trust, be confident or sure, (put, make to) trust.

According to www.dictionary.com it is defined as

To wish for something with expectation of its fulfillment. or # To look forward to with confidence or expectation: We hope that our children will be successful.

The theological virtue defined as the desire and search for a future good, difficult but not impossible to attain with God's help.

See countless men and women who sit in jail , prisons, and even nursing homes have a certain hope for a better tomorrow. Without hope a person could die. For Gods Children our hope is for the day Jesus calls us all home in a moment in a twinkling of an eye.

I heard a story some years ago. It went something like this;

A fellow went to prison to do a long stretch. I heard tell it was like ten to thirty years. Everything was well for a season. Then one day another inmate told him he was never getting out. At first he did not believe this. But after a while and continually hearing this he believed it. At that point when he lost all hope of a better tomorrow he man went insane. At first they kept him in his little eight by ten cell. But as time went on he quit eating, bathing and he just let himself go. So bad was this inmate they had to transfer him to a mental hospital.

When it was finally time for his family to take him home they couldn’t In fact he did not even realize who his family was. Thus they had to leave him in the hospital. Thus, a man who had a chance at life was robbed of all hope just because of a little disbelief.

Whether you are saved or not I am here to tell you that there is hope for you. If you slipped away from God there is hope and what's more exciting is there is restoration for you.

 
 

 

 

 

 

 

So what about the astronauts in Apollo thirteen? they had hope, a confidence for a better tomorrow even though all odds were against them.

People who went through the stock market crash. They had hope , so did the families of the disasters of September 11th 2001, the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941.

Every person has hope for a better tomorrow.

I want to ask you this question; where is your hope? Who do you trust in?

Do you trust in ol’ might George Washington? or Hamilton? is your trust and hope only rely on yourself?

See I know whom I believe in and even trust in. For all my hope is and will be in HIM alone. for He alone a sure us that HE will never leave us or forsake us. Beloved, that is a friend.

Today is your day to commit and recommit your life, your love, your hope . For with our it you too could truly suffer. and suffer needlessly.

God has made a way for you. God said “I will never leave you or forsake you. When you think you have no friends. When all hope seems lost. There is someone right there with you, even this very moment.

God, who is rich and mercy is waiting for you, yes you to come to Him. You don’t need to clean up your act. No need to put on a suit and tie and fancy shoes. No need to put on a fancy pretty dress. God will take you just as you are.

One thing about a farmer when he sells his farm. he does not go out and make it all pretty. He really doesn’t put a new coat a paint on the ol’ John Deer. He sells it lock-stock-and barrel just as it is. And he sells it all.

That is how God is too. He wants you to have complete trust, faith and hope in Him.

I heard a great man of God by the name of Leonard Ravenhill say once this very thing...

“In revival God is not concerned about filling empty churches, He is concerned about filling empty hearts.”

Do you need a revival in your heart? perhaps a little touch of hope or healing ? Do you have an empty heart?

Then there is only one place you can receive it. And that is at Mount Calvary. Where Jesus bled and died just for you.

Acts 3:19 we read, Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

This very moment won’t you ask the Lord Jesus into your life? For a refreshing? maybe you need to return to God cause you slip and fell away. That's okay too. because God is in the restoration business. And HE wants to restore lost fellowship with you.

This is your time. Your time to surrender all to Jesus. For the scripture says there is non righteous no not one. For all have fallen short of the glory of God. Will you this day take the Lord Jesus as your personal Savior and receive the hope of His glory.
