Fellowship Means Friendship!

Our first weekly topic – "They'll Know We Are Christians By Our Love" – talks about fellowship.  Now as I go back and read that title now, I admit to chuckling…as I wonder now how others will know we are truly Christians without continued fellowship.  When 'Christ in Pogo' first began, one of our goals was to read profiles and fellowship with other Christians in Pogo and encourage them to join us.  Once someone joins our group, we have attempted to keep the spirit of fellowship alive through a welcome post and a personal email to the new member.  I find myself thanking our Heavenly Father daily for the growth of 'Christ in Pogo'; but now I'm wondering if I personally haven't lost sight of one of the original goals we had (and still have) for God's Ministry.

In Dove's post to the original weekly topic about fellowship, she shares that, "[I]n the church where I came back to Jesus, fellowship was when believers in Christ got together to give each other encouragement, support and inspiration in order to enable them to go out into the world in order to witness and spread the Word."  I believe she is absolutely correct…and again ask myself what I can personally do to strengthen the Christian fellowship within 'Christ in Pogo.'  Thanks to the continued fellowship of my brothers and sisters here, I have prayed and turned to Scripture:

"If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.  Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." ~ Philippians 2:1-4

Encouragement from being united with Christ is fed through continued fellowship.  It's rather hard to do with this being an internet-based ministry.  But if we work together, caring for the problems of others as if they were our own problems, we demonstrate Christ's example of putting others first, and we experience unity through fellowship.

The Christian fellowship we enjoy through 'Christ in Pogo' includes praying for and with each other and being challenged by and through each other by searching the Scriptures.  We get as much out of a fellowship as we're willing to give.  In that spirit, I ask each of you to ask our Heavenly Father what we need to do to strengthen our Christian fellowship.  Christian fellowship builds your strength.  How will others know we are Christians…by our appearance, our speech, our deeds, our smile and helping others.  All of these things can be achieved by and through fellowship!  When your heart is filled with the Lord, it shines through to the world!  Let your light shine!
